Boilermakers Earn Twenty-Five NCAA Regional Entries

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team has earned 25 entries to the 2021 NCAA East Region Preliminary round, as the NCAA announced the championship field on Thursday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team has earned 25 entries to the 2021 NCAA East Region Preliminary round, as the NCAA announced the championship field on Thursday.
 
A total of 20 Boilermakers, 11 women and nine men, will compete in Jacksonville, Florida, from May 26-29. Purdue has 13 men's entries and 12 women's entries.
 
Seniors Samson Colebrooke (100m, 200m) and Malcolm Dotson (200m, 400m), junior Jalil Brewer (discus, shot put), sophomore Camille Christopher (100m, 200m) and freshman Marcellus Moore (100m, 200m) all will compete in multiple individual events. Colebrooke, Dotson and Moore also are part of the men's 4x100 relay team, and Christopher is a member of the women's 4x100 relay squad.
 
Along with Christopher, Purdue's women's NCAA qualifiers are senior Samara Miller (400m), junior Tessa Sheets (pole vault), sophomores Jessica Bray (pole vault) and Alexis Zatta (high jump) and freshmen Kaia Harris (discus), Annamaria Leszczynska (400m hurdles), K'Ja Talley (400m hurdles) and Cierra Williams (400m). The Boilermakers also will compete in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, with Christopher, Talley and freshmen Naomi Campbell and Saran Kouyeth in the 4x100 and Kouyeth, Miller, Talley and Williams in the 4x400.
 
For the men, Brewer, Colebrooke, Dotson and Moore will be joined by senior Brody Smith (3,000m steeplechase) juniors Curt Eckstein (10,000m) and Tamar Greene (triple jump) and sophomore Isaiah Martin (long jump). Purdue also qualified in the 4x100 relay, with Colebrooke, Dotson, Moore and sophomore Justin Becker.
 
The NCAA East Prelims feature 48 qualifiers in each individual event and 24 teams in each relay, with the top 12 finishers in each event advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 9-12.
 
Along with his long jump berth, Martin has qualified as one of 24 competitors in the decathlon, where he advances directly to the NCAA Championships, as the event is not contested at regionals.
 
North Florida will host the four-day NCAA East Region Prelims at Hodges Stadium. The meet schedule can be found here.
