WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the first of a three-match homestand to conclude the 2021 regular season, the Purdue men's tennis team hosted No. 23 Ohio State in their second outdoor match at Schwartz Tennis Center this season. The Boilermakers dropped the match against the Buckeyes by a score of 7-0.
Ohio State started off the match strong with a pair of doubles victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Milledge Cossu and Michal Wozniak were battling back from a 4-3 deficit against the 58th ranked duo in the nation in James Trotter and Justin Boulais when their match was halted.
Purdue wasn't able to gain any momentum against a tough opponent in No. 23 Ohio State. The Buckeyes rallied off all six singles matches in straight sets to clinch the 7-0 victory.
Michal Wozniak was dealt a tough task at No. 2, having to face the 46th singles player in the nation in Cannon Kingsley. The Poland international put up a good fight in the second set, but was unable to overcome his ranked opponent, losing by a total match score of 6-1, 6-4.
The Boilermakers remain home for a Sunday matchup against Penn State as the front part of a men's and women's doubleheader. The men's match is scheduled to start at 11 AM.
