ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Purdue men's tennis team remained in Michigan on a beautiful Easter Sunday to take on the No. 24 Wolverines. The Boilermakers were outdueled in the contest 7-0.
One day after defeating the No. 49 ranked pairing in the nation, Michal Wozniak and Milledge Cossu had an even tougher opponent in Michigan's Andrew Fenty and Mattias Siimar, who make up the No. 23 ranked duo in the nation. Wozniak and Cossu dropped the match at No. 1 6-2.
Mateo Julio and Andre Suzanne won their second doubles match in their last four outings, besting Harrison Brown and Kristofer Siimar at No. 3 by a score of 6-3. Michigan took the match at No. 2 for an early 1-0 advantage.
Michigan took all the singles matches without losing a single set. Sebastian Welch provided the best chance at a set win for the Boilermakers, taking Mattias Siimar to a tiebreaking first set at No. 3. The Chile native eventually dropped the tiebreaker and the second set for a final score of 7-6(2), 6-3.
The Boilermakers will return home for the first time since March 21st to take on Ohio State on Friday and Penn State on Sunday. Friday's match is scheduled for 2:00 PM and Sunday's match is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
