WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue track & field team competes at a pair of meets this weekend, at the Husker Big Ten Invitational in Prairie View, Texas, and the Big Ten Indiana Invitational No. 3 in Bloomington, Indiana.
Held at the Prairie View A&M Track Stadium, the Husker Big Ten Invite begins on Friday, April 16. Field events commence at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT and running events start at 6 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. CT. Competition continues on Saturday, April 17, with the continuation of the decathlon at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT, while field events begin an hour later and running events start at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.
Thirty-one Boilermakers, 22 women and nine men, will compete in 14 women's and 10 men's events. The meet will include competitors from every Big Ten team.
Purdue's distance runners will race at the Big Ten Indiana Invitational No. 3 on Friday, April 16, at IU's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex. Nine men and one woman will represent the Boilermakers, with Purdue's first race set for 6:20 p.m. ET.

ZATTA RECOGNIZED AS BIG TEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sophomore Alexis Zatta was named the Big Ten Women's Field Athlete of the Week after she won the high jump on April 9. Her first outdoor victory of 2021, Zatta cleared 1.77 to record the second-best jump in the Big Ten this year. It was a personal-best mark for the Athens, Ohio, native.
The accolade is the first Big Ten athlete of the week honor of Zatta's career, and she is the second Boilermaker in the first three weeks of the outdoor season to be recognized by the Big Ten after junior Jalil Brewer was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week on April 7. Additionally, Zatta is Purdue's first Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week awardee since March 21, 2018.

In the latest USTFCCCA national rankings, the Boilermaker men and women are both No. 5 in the Great Lakes Region. In the Event Squad Rankings, the men are No. 4 nationally in the 100 and No. 6 in the 200.
Individually, Brewer is No. 8 in the shot put thanks to a winning throw of 19.70 meters on April 2. Freshman Marcellus Moore is No. 13 in the 100 and No. 15 in the 200, with times of 10.25w and 20.55, respectively, while senior Samson Colebrooke is No. 15 in the 100 (10.27w), all thanks to marks set on April 2. Junior Tamar Greene checks in at No. 16 in the triple jump after a jump of 16.00 meters on April 2, and Zatta is No. 21 in the high jump after her April 9 victory. Freshman Kaia Harris is at No. 23 in the discus courtesy of a mark of 54.11 meters on April 2.
Additionally, the men's 4x100 relay team of Colebrooke, senior Malcolm Dotson, sophomore Justin Becker and Moore is No. 14 with a time of 39.57. In the event squad rankings, Purdue is No. 4 nationally in the 100-meter and No. 6 in the 200.
LAST TIME OUT: BIG TEN INDIANA INVITATIONAL NO. 2
Zatta won the high jump and freshman Ian Hunter earned a top-10 time in school history to highlight the Big Ten Indiana Invitational No. 2 on April 9. As they withstood rain and several lightning delays, the Boilermakers earned five runner-up finishes, two third-place showings and eight personal-best marks along with Zatta and Hunter's performances.
Hunter put his name on the top-10 list in school history in the 1,500. His personal-best time of 3:47.17 is No. 6 in Boilermaker history and was good for a seventh-place finish in the event.
In the pole vault, junior Tessa Sheets and sophomore Jessica Bray tied for second, as they each cleared 3.75 meters. Sophomore Ife Oketona notched a runner-up finish in the men's long jump, thanks to a season-best jump of 6.93 meters. As she competed in the 100-meter hurdle event for the first time in her collegiate career, freshman Jayla Ellis placed second overall. Her time of 14.12 seconds was just 0.04 behind the winner.
