MADISON, Wisc. – To conclude their weekend getaway, the Purdue men's tennis team traveled to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers. The Boilermakers dropped the contest by a score of 4-0.
Wisconsin started the match strong, claiming the doubles points with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Milledge Cossu and Michal Wozniak forced the doubles match at No. 1 to a tiebreaker, but wasn't able to come out ahead, losing the tiebreaker to Jared Pratt and Robin Parts 7-6(3). Sebastian Welch and Tomasz Dudek were heading to a tiebreaker in their match at No. 2 when it was halted.
Milledge Cossu was dealt a tough task in his match at No. 5, as he was forced to face No. 86 Robert Krill. After a tough fight, the freshman wasn't able to overcome his ranked opponent, losing by a total score of 6-2, 6-2.
Purdue's sole set win came at the hands of Mateo Julio, who topped Lenard Soha in the first set at No. 1. The senior was chipping back from a 5-4 deficit in the second half when his match was ceased.
The Boilermakers are back on the road next weekend to face Michigan State on Saturday and Michigan on Sunday. First serve for both matches are set for noon ET.
