BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team dropped the road leg of it's two-match Governor's Cup series against Indiana on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the Hoosiers.
Purdue dropped a doubles point after 6-1 and 6-2 losses at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Milledge Cossu and Michal Wozniak were in the midst of a 4-4 battle with Patrick Fletchall and Andrew Redding at No. 1, when play was stopped.
In singles, the Hoosiers claimed the match with straight-set wins at No. 1, 2 and 5. Cossu narrowly lost his first set in a tiebereak to Vikash Signh, 7-6(4), but his match came to a halt before he could mount a comeback. Wozniak was also clawing his way back in the second set at No. 3 against Carson Haskins when play was concluded.
Purdue returns to the Schwartz Tennis Center next weekend for matches against Northwestern on Friday and Illinois on Sunday.
