WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team will open the 2021 season this weekend with a pair of road matches at Nebraska and Iowa on Friday and Sunday, respectively. After no competition in the fall, the Boilermakers will play their first match in 348 days.

Head coach Pawel Gajdzik enters his 12th year at the helm in West Lafayette with a veteran roster in which 85% of the players have college experience. The Boilermakers will be led by the lone senior Mateo Julio. The Argentina international posted a 6-6 mark in dual singles last year and a 1-0 record at No. 1.
Santiago Galan and Tomasz Dudek, the 2019 and 2020 ITA Ohio Valley Rookie of the Year, respectively, return to the lineup looking to build upon their previous success. Milledge Cossu out of North Miami Beach, Fla., the only newcomer to the roster, will look to become Purdue's fourth straight freshman to earn the ITA regional award.
The 2021 regular season will set the Boilermakers against only Big Ten opposition.
After a pair of hidden dual invitationals, Nebraska will open its dual season against the Boilermakers on Friday.
Iowa enters the weekend with a record of 0-2, following matching 4-0 losses to No. 22 Virginia and Middle Tennessee State for ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Hawkeyes have a pair of ITA national rankings entires in Kareem Allaf at No. 39 in singles and the No. 17 doubles pairing of Will Davies and Oliver Okonkwo.
