The Purdue women's tennis team will head out for the first time in 2021 for the Illinois Invite this weekend in Champaign. The Boilermakers will play a pair of hidden dual contests against Indiana and Illinois.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team will head out for the first time in 2021 for the Illinois Invite this weekend in Champaign. The Boilermakers will play a pair of hidden dual contests against Indiana and Illinois.

Purdue vs. Indiana
Saturday, Feb. 6 – Noon ET

Purdue vs. Illinois
Sunday, Feb. 7 – Noon ET

The Boilermakers return to the courts for the second straight weekend after a solid performance at the Purdue Invite last weekend. Picking up a total of eight singles and six doubles victories.

Csilla Fodor powered her way to a trio of singles wins, dropping only one set over the three contests. Ena Babic went 2-1 last week in her three contests, including a three-set thriller against No. 107 Asuka Kawai from Illinois. Freshman Rut Galindo made an impact in singles in her first college contest, taking down opponents from Iowa and Michigan State.

In doubles play, Galindo and playing partner Seira Shimizu went 2-1 on the weekend with scores of 7-5 and 7-6 (5) against tandems from Iowa and Michigan State, respectively. Babic and Fodor also posted a 2-1 mark, including a dominant 6-1 victory against a team from Michigan State.

Illinois will face Indiana on Friday afternoon, before taking on the Boilermakers. The Fighting Illini are in their second competition of the year after a stop at the Purdue Invite last week. Indiana will play its first contests of the year this weekend at the Illinois Invite.
