More Than A Game Campaign Update, Additional Leadership Gift

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A leadership gift from Mike and Paula Klipsch has pushed the total commitment to the More Than A Game campaign to over $3 million since its launch on August 11. These funds will help offset the $50 million deficit faced by the department.

"The More Than A Game campaign was launched to help us through the financial challenges caused by the pandemic," said vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Mike Bobinski. "We have significant revenue shortfalls and are incredibly grateful for the generosity of those, like Mike and Paula, who have stepped up to help protect the future of Purdue Athletics. Gifts like theirs will allow us to continue fulfilling our promise to support the academic, personal and athletic success of our student-athletes and, when the time comes, ensure they're ready to return to competition."

Longtime supporters of the Boilermakers, the Klipsches were recognized by the John Purdue Club with the Diamond P award at the 2019 Old Gold & Black Dinner. Mike has served on the Board of Trustees since 2015, and Paula is a member of the Purdue Center for Cancer Research Director's Advancement Board.

"We recognize both the importance of Purdue Athletics and the extent of the financial setback they are facing," said Mike and Paula. "Our goal is to be part of the solution to support the athletics department during this significant issue so they can enjoy success into the future."

With this gift, the Klipsches will have their names installed on the recognition wall to be installed outside of Mackey Arena following the conclusion of the campaign. The wall will thank and recognize those who make contributions of $5,000 or more during Purdue Athletics' most significant time of need.

The More Than A Game campaign will also be a fund option on the seventh-annual Purdue Day of Giving on September 9. Over 70 units on campus will be competing to win hourly challenges and climb the donation and participation leaderboards for bonus funds. To learn more about Purdue Day of Giving, click here.
