Boilermakers to Host Valparaiso on Dec. 4, in Mackey Arena

Purdue will host in-state foe Valparaiso on Dec. 4

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's basketball team has scheduled another contest, hosting in-state foe Valparaiso on Dec. 4, in Mackey Arena.

Tip time and television designation will be announced at a later date.

Purdue and Valparaiso will meet for the first time since Dec. 2017, when the Boilermakers handed the previously-unbeaten Crusaders an 80-50 setback in Mackey Arena. Purdue leads the all-time series with Valparaiso by a 16-1 advantage, having won 11 straight games against the Crusaders.

Valparaiso posted a 19-16 record a year ago, falling to Bradley (80-66) in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship game. The Crusaders went 9-9 in league play and return three starters from last year's team. However, head coach Matt Lottich must replace his top two scorers from a year ago in Javon Freeman-Liberty (19.0 PPG) and Ryan Fazekas (10.6 PPG). Leading the returnees will be sophomore Donovan Clay (9.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG) and senior forward Mileek McMillan (8.8 PPG, 36.4 3P %).

The contest is the third announced game for the Boilermakers, as Purdue will play at Miami on Dec. 8, and host Indiana State on Dec. 12. The remaining non-conference games are nearing finalization and the Big Ten schedule is expected out soon.
