WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics and the John Purdue Club have secured an additional leadership gift to the More Than A Game campaign. Jim and Barbi (Barnes) Hayes '84 have generously committed to support the future of Purdue Athletics.

"Purdue Athletics is proud to once again recognize Jim and Barbi Hayes as supportive members of our family," said vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Mike Bobinski. "Their most recent gift will assist the department in setting today's student-athletes up for success in the same way that it helped shape the lives of the Hayes family."

Barbi's mother, Marty Barnes '56, has also made a gift to the campaign and will see the names of her and her late husband, J. Ray Barnes '55, installed on the recognition wall.

"We were inspired to expand our support after hearing how athletics department leadership also made a commitment to the campaign," said Jim and Barbi. "Seeing them step up to the plate and make a gift to the whole department is a testament to the character and priorities of those in the athletics department. We hope our gift can provide the same inspiration to someone else."

In 2017, Jim and Barbi made a gift to support the Purdue Football Master Plan and named the Hayes Family Athletics Ticket Office inside Mackey Arena. Barbi is an alum of the women's tennis program and a member of Varsity P, and multiple members of the family are also Purdue alumni.

The recognition wall will be installed outside of Mackey Arena following the conclusion of the campaign. The wall will thank and recognize those who make contributions of $5,000 or more during Purdue Athletics' most significant time of need.
