WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team had a trio student-athletes named Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athletes on Monday. The Boilermakers had Sebastian Welch, Tomasz Dudek and Maksymilian Raupuk garnered the national honors.

The trio was among 979 Division I student-athletes to receive the recognition. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.

Dudek was a solid anchor at the back of the lineup for the Boilermakers with an 8-7 mark in singles play and a 7-7 clip in doubles action. Raupuk posted a 10-7 clip in doubles action on the year, while competing at No. 2 or No. 3 in 16 of 17 singles matches played. The Polish tandem won the Purdue Invitational in the fall for their first event together. Meanwhile, Welch posted a 7-11 record in singles action and a 6-7 clip in doubles play during his first season in West Lafayette.

The Boilermakers were 10-7 on the year, aided by a seven-match winning streak, when play was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
