LPR Classic First Round Results
RIO GRANDE, P.R. – Shooting an even-par 288, the women's golf team is tied for second after the first round of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. Hosting the event for the 18th straight year, the Boilermakers are even with No. 22 Virginia Tech (E) and three strokes behind No. 14 Oklahoma State (-3) for the tournament lead.
Individually, freshman Sifat Sagoo leads the field after the opening round, carding a career-low 4-under 68 Sunday. Sagoo tallied seven birdies on the day, including four on the back nine in which she shot 3-under. Her round was the lowest of the season for the Boilermakers and leads Northwestern's Irene Kim by one stroke.
Senior Micaela Farah fired an even-par 72 Sunday and sits in tie for 10th after the first round. It was Farah's team-best sixth round of par or better on the year.
Freshman Kan Bunnabodee and junior Inez Wanamarta are tied for 28th individually after wrapping up Sunday 2-over at 74.
