Harris Picked to Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Midseason Team

The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced its 15-player Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year 2020 midseason team, and Purdue senior Ae'Rianna Harris was among the honorees.

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced its 15-player Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year 2020 midseason team, and Purdue senior Ae'Rianna Harris was among the honorees.

The reigning two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year leads the conference and ranks fourth nationally with 65 blocks. Harris also sits sixth in the Big Ten with 8.4 rebounds per game.

The Indianapolis native holds the program records for rebounds, defensive rebounds and blocks. Harris is tied with Joe Barry Carroll for the all-time Purdue blocks record with 349.

Prior to the season, Harris was named All-Big Ten by the coaches and media, Lisa Leslie Award Watch list, Wade Trophy Watch List, Citizen Naismith Trophy Watch List and the No. 24 player in the nation by ESPNW. 

The 2020 midseason team features players from seven conferences, including Big Ten representatives Veronica Burton from Northwestern and Blair Watson from Maryland.
