WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Fans of all ages are once again invited to Purdue baseball's preseason fan fest, which returns to the Mollenkopf Athletic Center in February for a third consecutive year.
The free indoor event is slated for Saturday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. That's the Saturday before the Boilermakers' season-opening weekend.
Purdue players will be assisting with skill stations and other indoor activities for children. Players will also be signing autographs and taking photos with attendees. Fans can take home a 2020 Purdue baseball schedule poster.
Skill stations include multiple batting cages, bullpen mounds and opportunities to play catch with the Boilermakers. There are multiple stations geared toward different age groups of children.
Free parking will be available in the "F Lot" located east of Mollenkopf and north of Mackey Arena.
The Boilermakers are also hosting their annual First Pitch Dinner on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Holloway Gymnasium. Tickets are priced at $35. West Lafayette native, Purdue alumnus and current Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Josh Lindblom is slated to serve as the guest speaker at the dinner.
In the fall, Purdue baseball hosted a well-received Halloween Bash at Alexander for the first time. The free all-ages event featured a costume scrimmage and on-field trick-or-treating. The Boilermakers are making plans to host the event again next October. All attendees received a voucher for a free game ticket for the 2020 season.
Season tickets at Alexander Field go on sale Monday, Jan. 13, with single-game seats available next month. A full list of promotions and special events at Alexander will also be announced next month.
Purdue opens its new season with a four-game series against Hofstra at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in the Orlando area. Valentine's Day is the national opening day for college baseball. The Boilermakers' home opener is set for St. Patrick's Day and they have home weekends on the schedule this year, the first against Illinois on March 27 to 29.
The Boilermakers have a very veteran roster this season that features returning starters at almost every position. A number of the program's top pitchers are also still in the mix. Greg Goff begins his first season as head coach and third overall as a member of the coaching staff. Purdue won 38 games and finished second in the Big Ten standings in 2018. The program has compiled a 28-15 record at Alexander Field the last two years.
