WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's soccer junior forward Hannah Melchiorre has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

A biochemistry major with a perfect 4.00 GPA, Melchiorre hails from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. She led the Boilermakers with four goals and three game-winning goals this season and was second on the team with eight points and 12 shots on goal and third with 22 shots.

Melchiorre is the second CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree in program history and joins midfielder Shauna Stapleton, who was named to the first team in 2007.

"Hannah is a great example of someone who strives for excellence in all areas of her life," Purdue coach Drew Roff said. "Her work rate, discipline, and desire to succeed help set the bar for our program. It is great to see her recognized for her achievements."

Melchiorre's Academic All-America accolade comes after she was named to the Academic All-District 5 First Team on November 7. She is the second Boilermaker in team history to garner multiple academic all-district awards in a career, after she earned second team honors last year. Melchiorre is accompanied in the record books by forward Jessica Okoroafo, who was recognized three times, in 2006, 07 and 09.

While playing in all 20 games and starting 19, Melchiorre helped guide Purdue to a Big Ten Tournament berth and a spot in the semifinals thanks to a quarterfinals victory at top-seeded and No. 7-ranked Wisconsin. She totaled 1,320 minutes played in her junior campaign, which led the team among forwards and midfielders. Her team-best four goals were highlighted by the game-winning tally in the 59th minute at Indiana to propel the Boilermakers to the postseason and a score against No. 11 Kansas.

Purdue is one of four Big Ten teams with a representative on this season's women's soccer CoSIDA Academic All-America teams.
