Former Purdue men's tennis standout Gergely Madarasz is having one of his best professional seasons of his career in 2019. The 2018 graduate has steadily climbed the ITF rankings this year, cracking the top 500 in singles and doubles.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Former Purdue men's tennis standout Gergely Madarasz is having one of his best professional seasons of his career in 2019. The 2019 graduate has steadily climbed the ITF rankings this year, cracking the top 500 in singles and doubles.

Madarasz is now ranked ITF No. 448 and ATP No. 618 for singles events. He recorded a career-best ITF No. 413 and ATP No. 881 in doubles this year as well.

This season, the Baja, Hungary, native reached a trio of semifinals in singles play on the ITF World Tennis Tour. His best singles finish of the year came in June at the M15 Balatonalmadi, where he took runner-up honors.

The doubles scene has given him more success this year. Madarasz reached a pair of final rounds, including winning the M15 Chornomorsk in Ukraine with playing partner Matyas Fuele. He also boasts a quartet of semifinal appearances in 2019.

He is 13-9 in singles play between ATP and ITF events and 13-8 in doubles matches on the same tours.
