WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team will compete its first title of the fall season on Sunday when Maksymilian Raupuk and Tomasz Dudek play in the doubles championship match at the Purdue Invitational.
The Polish tandem picked up a pair of victories on the second day of the tournament in Flight B. First, the pair knocked off Samuel Eden and David Gorshein of Army West Point in the quarterfinals, 6-3, before dispatching DePaul's Tripp Tuff and Tamas Zador in the semifinals, 6-4.
Sebastian Welch and Julian Saborio bounced back from quarterfinals defeat to top Gabriel Carvajal and Brian Pecyna of Valparaiso in the consolation match.
Athell Bennett and Mateo Julio, both of whom missed this weekend's tournament, arrived in Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships. Julio will open his tournament on Monday in the qualifying rounds, and Bennett will follow suit on Wednesday in the main draw.
