NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Athell Bennett's run at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals came to an end on Sunday afternoon. The senior was the last remaining member from the Purdue men's tennis team in the tournament.
No. 1-seeded Bennett opened the day against No. 10 seed Luca Wiedenmann from Tennessee. The senior cruised into the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Bennett came up just short in a tightly-contested match against No. 8 seed Bennett Crane from Indiana. In a tight affair, the Valley Stream, N. Y., native fell 7-5, 7-6(5).
Purdue will return to the courts for the Big Ten Singles Championship on Nov. 1 in Lincoln, Neb.
