WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's basketball team is ranked No. 22 in the preseason USA Today / Coaches Top 25 poll released earlier today.
The Boilermakers garnered 123 votes to sit in 22nd place, 26 points behind 21st-ranked Xavier and 18 points ahead of No. 23-ranked Auburn. Purdue is one of four Big Ten teams ranked in the initial poll of the 2019-20 season.
Among top-25 teams, Purdue will face No. 1-ranked Michigan State, No. 8-ranked Maryland, No. 9-ranked Virginia, No. 16-ranked Ohio State and possibly No. 25-ranked Tennessee. Purdue opponents that are receiving votes include VCU (26th), Marquette (27th), Florida State (29th; possible), Michigan (30th), Wisconsin (38th) and Illinois (47th).
