TULSA, Okla. – Athell Bennett captured his first singles victory of the fall on Wednesday at the ITA All-American Championships.
The Valley Stream, N.Y., native cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win over ORACLE/ITA No. 28 Joseph Guillin in the first round of the main draw. The match was postponed several hours due to rain in the area, but the delay did not fault the senior Boilermaker.
Bennett, ranked No. 40 in the nation, will take on No. 8 seed Juan Carlos Aguilar from Texas A&M, the 13th ranked player in the country, on Thursday morning.
