WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The Purdue men's basketball team welcomes its highest-ranked opponent to visit Mackey Arena in over two years as No. 6 Michigan State puts its 21-game Big Ten regular-season winning streak on the line Sunday.

The contest will be televised on CBS with Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg calling the action courtside beginning at 1 p.m. ET. On the radio waves, the contest will be available on the Purdue Radio Network and TuneIn.com with Larry Clisby, Rob Blackman and Ralph Taylor on the call, beginning with the Purdue Basketball pregame show at Noon. Live stats will be provided on PurdueSports.com, and Twitter updates will be available on Purdue's official account (@BoilerBall).

THE TALKING POINTS
1) The two hottest teams in the Big Ten take the court Sunday as Michigan State enters with a 13-game win streak while Purdue has won seven of its last eight games. The lone loss for Purdue in that span came to Michigan State at the Breslin Center on Jan. 8, 2019.
2) The two teams own the Big Ten's best records over the last five years (Michigan State - 60-21; Purdue - 59-21), a full seven games better than "third-place" Maryland (52-29). Since the start of last year, the squads are a combined 44-5 against other Big Ten teams during the regular-season.
3) Since the start of last year, Purdue and Michigan State have only lost regular-season Big Ten games to Wisconsin, Ohio State (2x) and Michigan (2x).
4) Purdue has won 11 straight games at home and is 19-1 at home in its last 20 Big Ten home games. MSU has won 12 straight Big Ten road games.
5) Purdue is 49-2 in the last 51 games when the Paint Crew has been in attendance (losses to Villanova, Ohio State).
6) Purdue continues to excel on the offensive end, ranking sixth nationally in offensive efficiency. Purdue, Duke and Villanova are the only teams to rank in the top 10 in offensive efficiency in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Purdue finished second a year ago behind National Champion Villanova.
7) Purdue has beaten a top-10 opponent in Mackey Arena 27 times. Six of the 27 wins have come against Michigan State (last: Feb. 9, 2016).
8) Under Matt Painter, Purdue has been one of the best offensive teams in America. The Boilermakers have ranked in the nation's top 25 in offensive efficiency in six of the last nine seasons (lone years not in top 25: 2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13).
9) Carsen Edwards ranks fourth nationally in scoring (24.7 PPG). Since the 1992-93 season, just two other Big Ten players (Purdue's Glenn Robinson 2x, Michigan State's Shawn Respert 2x) have averaged at least 24.0 points per game in a season.
10) Carsen Edwards needs four rebounds for 300 in career. He would become sixth player in school history with 1,500 points, 300 rebounds, 200 assists and 100 career steals.

THE SERIES
• Sunday's meeting marks the 124th meeting between the two teams, with Purdue owning a 68-55 series lead.
• The two teams have split the last six meetings with three wins each. Purdue is 2-0 at Mackey Arena during that span.

RANKED TEAMS IN MACKEY ARENA
• Since the start of the 2014-15 season, Purdue is 12-2 against nationally-ranked teams in Mackey Arena. The lone losses came to No. 3-ranked Villanova on Nov. 13, 2016 (76-73) and No. 14-ranked Ohio State on Feb. 7, 2018 (64-63).
• Michigan State will be the highest-ranked team to visit Mackey Arena since that Villanova game over two years ago. Purdue's last win over a top-10 team in Mackey Arena came against No. 10-ranked Maryland on Feb. 27, 2016 (83-79).

THE POWER OF MACKEY ARENA & THE PAINT CREW
• Mackey Arena has been a special place to play basketball and Sunday's atmosphere should rival anything it has ever seen. Consider the following facts about the nation's loudest basketball arena.
• With the Paint Crew in attendance, Purdue has won 49 of its last 51 games (losses to Villanova in Nov. 2016, and Ohio State in Feb. 2018).
• Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Purdue's .934 winning percentage (57-4) in Mackey Arena is the second-best home winning percentage in America, behind just Kentucky (.937).
• Purdue is 36-4 at home against Big Ten opponents since the start of the 2014-15 season (losses to Maryland, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio St.).  The record is the best in the Big Ten during that stretch by three games (Michigan State - 33-7).
• Purdue has won 11 straight games in the arena by an average of 19.4 points per game. Just three games have been decided by single-digits during that span (Penn State last year - 3; Ball State - 9; Maryland - 2).
• The arena reached 115.7 decibels in the win over Indiana last Saturday. The reading did not crack the top six (since readings started in 2009-10). The record is 122.3 dB set against Indiana on Feb. 28, 2017 -- equivalent to a chain saw or oxygen torch. The average human pain threshold for sound is 110 dB.
