WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Incoming Purdue freshman Roxane Makolo will delay her arrival on campus a little longer as she was named to the U19 Canadian National Team on Friday. This marks Makolo's fourth appearance on a Canadian national team, set to compete July 20-28 at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand.
Makolo is 1-of-12 individuals named to the national team, which will compete in Group A of the World Cup along with Latvia, Mozambique and hosts Thailand. She previously competed at the U18 FIBA Americas in 2018, the U17 World Cup in 2016, and U16 FIBA Americas in 2015, combining for 20 games of international experience.
Tournament play begins Saturday, July 20, as Canada first meets Latvia, followed by a game against Mozambique on Sunday, July 21, and Thailand on Tuesday, July 23. The knock-out stage begins July 24, with all 16 teams advancing.
