WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics Mike Bobinski has announced the hiring of former Boilermaker football player Ryan Isaac as assistant director of development - Varsity P within the John Purdue Club.
Isaac's responsibilities include building relationships with and increasing involvement of Purdue Athletics alumni. He will focus on advancing annual giving and assist with advancing membership, marketing, communication and special events efforts of Varsity P, which includes former Boilermaker student-athletes, managers, athletic trainers and spirit squad members.
"Varsity P is a critically important part of the John Purdue Club as we strive to keep our student-athletes engaged with Purdue Athletics after graduation," deputy athletics director Jason Butikofer said. "As a former Boilermaker student-athlete himself, Ryan's passion for Purdue and dynamic personality make him the perfect individual to elevate our efforts."
Isaac returns to the Boilermakers from his hometown of Michigan City, Indiana, where he most recently worked as a youth behavioral counselor. He also has experience as a special education teacher and high school assistant football coach, and in brand management with LW Branding in Chicago.
Isaac earned his bachelor's degree in organizational leadership and supervision from Purdue in 2014. He was a four-year letterwinner from 2010 to 2014 as a defensive tackle and defensive end, playing in both the 2011 Little Caesars and 2013 Heart of Dallas bowls. Isaac was a member of the Boilermaker Athletic Council (Purdue student-athlete advisory committee) and received the John R. Wooden Leadership Institute Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership. He also was involved with Lafayette Urban Ministry and the Special Olympics.
