The Purdue women's basketball team was announced as part of the field for the 2019 Gulf Coast Showcase on Tuesday, set to play in an eight-team field at Hertz Arena in Estero, Florida from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. The Boilermakers return to the tournament for the second time, first playing in 2015 and taking runner-up honors in the inaugural edition of the Gulf Coast Showcase.

This year's field includes five 2019 NCAA Tournament qualifiers and a trio of conference champions. Joining Purdue will be Arizona State, Auburn, Drake, Gonzaga, Maine, Middle Tennessee and Dayton, making up one of the most stacked fields in tournament history. The Boilermakers have never gone head-to-head with Arizona State, Drake or Middle Tennessee, and most recently faced Dayton in 2015 and Maine in 2016.

Purdue played in the first-ever Gulf Coast Showcase in 2015, going 2-1 and reaching the championship game before falling to tournament champion Stanford. The Boilermakers topped LSU in the tournament opener 69-52, followed up with a 62-60 upset of No. 22 Louisville in the semifinals and fell to the 13th-ranked Cardinal 71-65 in overtime in the finals. Ashley Morrissette earned all-tournament honors, scoring 16 points in the championship game.

The Boilermakers return the bulk of their roster in 2019-20, including the senior tandem of Ae'Rianna Harris and Dominque Oden and junior Karissa McLaughlin, who led the team in scoring last season.
