WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue football student-athletes are thriving academically.
For the second straight semester, the Boilermakers:
* Boast their highest-ever cumulative GPA at 2.93.
* Achieved their highest-ever semester grade-point average at 2.91.
* Had their highest percentage of student-athletes with a 3.0 or better semester GPA (55 percent, 56 of 102).
* Had their highest percent of student-athletes with a 3.5 or better semester GPA (27 percent, 28 of 102).
Here are the top five football student-athletes ranked by spring semester GPA:
Jack Plummer - 4.00
Zander Horvath - 3.93
Rondale Moore - 3.81
Elijah Sindelar - 3.81
David Day - 3.76
Twelve Boilermakers earned their bachelor's degree this month: Brian Bravo (selling and sales management), Danny Carollo (selling and sales management), Tim Cason (selling and sales management), Spencer Evans (selling and sales management), Ronnie Hill (psychology and classical studies), Myles Homan (aeronautical and astronautical engineering), Ben Makowski (professional flight technology), Matt McCann (building construction management technology), Sindelar (electrical engineering), Ethan Smart (selling and sales management), Bearooz Yacoobi (building construction management technology) and Isaac Zico (sociology).
In addition, Kirk Barron (technology leadership and innovation) and Ryan Sadkowski (finance) earned their master's degrees.
Last fall, a school-record 29 football student-athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
