Purdue men's tennis came up just short against No. 34 Penn State on Sunday, dropping a 4-3 decision.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Purdue men's tennis came up just short against No. 34 Penn State on Sunday, dropping a 4-3 decision at the Sarni Tennis Center.

Starting the match off strong, Purdue took the doubles point. Athell Bennett and Stephan Koenigsfest defeated Constant De La Basse and Gabriel Nemeth 6-1, while Mateo Julio and Maksymilian Raupuk took down Matt Galush and Ben Lieb 6-4.

Penn State took the first two singles points before Koenigsfest gained a Boilermaker point with his  6-4, 7-5 victory at the the No. 4 spot over Lieb.

Raupuk took down Nemeth 7-6(4), 6-2 at the No. 3 spot to round out the Purdue scoring.

Next up, Purdue (9-13, 3-8) heads to the Big Ten Tournament, which gets underway Thursday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
