Boilermakers look to snap Northwestern's 11-game winning streak

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Two days after a thrilling 10-1 run-rule victory against Notre Dame, Purdue will look to snap Northwestern's perfect league record in a three-game series at Sharon J. Drysdale field this weekend.

The series will start Friday, April 19 at 5 p.m. ET with the game streaming on BTN2go. Saturday's game, which starts at 2 p.m. ET can also be seen on BTN2go, while Sunday's series finale at 5 p.m. ET will air on the Big Ten Network.

Purdue looks to surpass 30 wins for the first time since 2015. The Boilermakers most recently claimed a 10-1 five-inning victory against Notre Dame on Tuesday. The Boilermakers totaled 10 hits to Notre Dame's five, with the Fighting Irish committing two errors on the night. Freshman Rachel Becker and Kasey Wilhoit and sophomore Ryleigh Scott each contributed two hits on the night, while Scott paced the team with two runs.Senior Kaitlynn Moody (11-7) was in complete control in the circle en route to earning her 11th win of the season, allowing just one earned run on five hits and striking out two in a complete-game effort.

Overall, Purdue is hitting .289 as a team with five Boilermakers batting above .300. Third baseman Jenny Behan tops the squad with a .362 mark. The senior also paces Purdue with 42 runs, 54 hits, 36 RBI and 12 home runs.

Becker follows Behan with a .353 batting average , while also having reached base in 12-consecutive games. Her on-base percentage has bumped up to a team-best .486 and she paces the Boilermakers in walks (34) and stolen bases (7). Her walks rank first in the Big Ten and No.31 in the nation.

Wilhoit (.348), junior Madison Douglass (.327) and senior Lexi Huffman (.320) round out the quintet.

Redshirt sophomore pitcher Syndey Bates has proved to be the workhorse of the Purdue pitching staff as she leads the group in appearances (28) and innings pitched (121.1). Bates boasts a record of 11-6 with an ERA of 2.65, which ranks 13th among Big Ten pitchers.

Northwestern enters the weekend on an 11-game winning streak and four-consecutive weekend sweeps in Big Ten action. At the plate, the Wildcats are paced by Rachel Lewis, who is currently hitting .321 (17-for-53) with 12 extra-base hits and an .887 slugging percentage over the Wildcats' last five weeks of action. She also leads the Big Ten with seven home runs in conference play.

Adding depth to the lineup are Jordyn Runn and Nikkie Cuchran, who lead the Wildcats with 35 and 29 RBI, respectively.

In the circle, Northwestern looks to Danielle Williams and Morgan Newport, who both own ERA's less than 1.50. Williams tops the pen with a 1.16 ERA with a team-best 202 strikeouts over a team-high 151.1 innings pitched. Newport follows with a 1.36 ERA, allowing just five earned runs on the year.
