WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team (8-10, 1-6) will host its final matches of the 2019 season at the Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend. The Boilermakers host No. 46 Iowa on Saturday and Nebraska on Sunday for Senior Day, honoring Dominik Sochurek. Both matches get underway at noon ET.
Coming off two losses the Boilermakers look to capture their last home stand to push their home record from 5-2 to 7-2.
Series History
Purdue has won three of the last five matches against Iowa, including a ranked victory. In 2014, the Boilermaker took down the Hawkeyes on their home court 5-2. Two years later, No. 59 Purdue topped No. 67 Iowa 4-1 in Iowa City. Sochurek helped lead the Boilermaker charge with a 7-4, 7-5 victory over Dominic Patrick. The Boilermakers last defeated Iowa 5-2 in 2017 at Schwartz. Stephan Koenigsfest and Athell Bennet won their doubles match, as well as gaining singles victories to help claim the Purdue victory. After a close 4-3 loss in Iowa City last year Purdue looks to grab another win this weekend.

In 2017, the Boilermakers dominated the Cornhuskers with a 7-0 sweep. Last year, Purdue took the match 5-2 in Lincoln to earn its second conference victory and first road victory of the season. Maksymilian Raupuk took down Linus Erhart 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles. Following suit was Mateo Julio at the No. 4 spot with a victory over Micah Klousia 6-1, 6-4 and Bennett at No. 5 defeating William Grattan-Smith 6-2, 6-2.
