Men's Tennis Takes Down Michigan St.

Purdue secures their first conference victory of the season with a 6-1 victory over Michigan State.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue secures their first conference victory of the season with a 6-1 victory over Michigan State.

The Boilermakers took the doubles point in two matches, and led the third match over the Spartans. 

Maksymilian Raupuk and Santiago Galan defeated Billy Shisler and Carson Gates 6-1 for the first Purdue victory of the day. 

Mateo Julio teamed up with Dominik Sochurek to defeat Ivan Rakic and Anthony Pero 6-2 at the No. 1 spot to secure the doubles point.

At the No. 2 spot Athell Bennett and Stephan Koenigsfest led 5-3 over John Carlin and Colin Harvey before ending unfinished.

Galan secured the first singles point for the Boilermakers at the No. 6 spot with his victory over Harvey 6-4, 6-3.

Bennett defeated Carlin at the No. 2 spot 6-3, 6-1. 

At the No. 1 spot Julio took down Rakic 6-1, 6-4.

Raupuk defeated Gates in two sets 6-4, 6-3.

The final point came at the No. 5 spot with a hard fought Sochurek victory over Shisler 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 (6). 

The Boilermakers (7-9, 1-4) will be back in action April 5 at Minnesota.
