BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Jalil Brewer is set to represent the Purdue track & field team at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The sophomore will compete in the shot put, scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on Friday.
Brewer qualified for the national championships after throwing a personal-best distance of 64-03.00/19.58-meters at the Big Ten Championships on Feb. 23. Additionally, with his Big Ten performance, Brewer climbed one spot to No. 3 all-time on Purdue's indoor performance list. It marked almost a half-meter increase over his personal best, set a year ago.
The throw ranked No. 14 in the nation to qualify for his first NCAA Championships. He is one of just five underclassmen to reach the big stage.
