WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Jalil Brewer will represent the Purdue men's track & field team at the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 8 and 9 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama.
Brewer earned his NCAA qualifying mark in the men's shot put during the Big Ten Championships last weekend with his throw of 64-03.00/19.58-meters. The distance earned second-place and checks in at No. 13 in the nation. It was the first Big Ten medal of his collegiate career.
The Big Ten Championships throw was a season best for the sophomore by 0.49-meters. Brewer will be one of two Big Ten student-athletes in the shot put. Michigan's Andrew Liskowitz, the Big Ten champion in the event, will join Brewer in representing the conference in the NCAA event.
To qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships, individuals must rank among the top 16 in the nation following conference championships.
