THE TALKING POINTS
1) Purdue is now 12-3 through 15 Big Ten games for the third straight season. The Boilermakers became the fifth group to win at least 12 league games in five straight seasons, joining Wisconsin (2010-17), Michigan State (2012-16), Purdue (1994-98) and Indiana (1980-84) to accomplish the feat.
2) A win over Nebraska would give Purdue 13 Big Ten wins in three straight seasons, something accomplished just four times in league history.
3) Matt Painter now owns 314 wins at Purdue, ranking 11th on the Big Ten's all-time wins list and needing two wins to move into the top 10. Tuesday's win over Indiana marked his 500th career game, now owning a 339-161 record. He is still just 48 years old.
4) Purdue's seniors (Ryan Cline and Grady Eifert) now own a 102-31 (.767) career record, the fifth most wins for a senior class in school history. A win moves the class to fourth place all-time. The .767 winning percentage is third-best percentage in school history (1996 - .778; 1988 - .774).
5) Purdue is back in the national rankings for the fourth straight week after falling out for eight weeks. Its No. 15 ranking marks the 15th week ranked in the top 15 over the last 29 Associated Press polls.
6) Purdue has won seven straight games following a contest against Indiana, scoring at least 74 points in five of the seven wins.
7) Purdue continues to excel on the offensive end, ranking fifth nationally in offensive efficiency. Purdue, Duke and North Carolina are the only teams to rank in the top 10 in offensive efficiency the last two seasons.
8) Under Matt Painter, Purdue has been one of the best offensive teams in America. The Boilermakers have ranked in the nation's top 25 in offensive efficiency in six of the last nine seasons (lone years not in top 25: 2014-15, 2013-14, 2012-13).
9) Carsen Edwards ranks 10th nationally in scoring (23.8 PPG). Since the 1992-93 season, just four other Big Ten players (Purdue's Glenn Robinson 2x, Michigan State's Shawn Respert 2x, Indiana's Alan Henderson, Minnesota's Quincy Lewis) have averaged at least 23.0 points per game.
10) Ryan Cline has sparked Purdue's recent surge, making 41 of 86 (.477) of his 3-pointers since the calendar flipped to 2019.
