COLUMBUS, Ohio – Paige Miller's sweep of the distance freestyle events headlined the four races won by members of Purdue women's swimming in the finals sessions at the two-day Ohio State Winter Invite.
Miller was victorious in the 500 (4:52.18) and 1,650 free (16:48.57), posting career-best times in both events. Her times also ranked among the top three on the team this season.
Anna Giesler (100 and 200) and Roxy Griffore (50 and 100) were both A finalists in both of their freestyle events. Katie achieved the equivalent in the distance freestyle events, placing sixth in the A final of the 500 and taking sixth overall in the mile. Hughes also accounted for top-five times for the team this season.
Caylee Casbon also won the B final of the 200 backstroke and Kelsey Macaddino was victorious in the B final of the 200 butterfly.
Miller would have been an A finalist in the 200 free as well, but opted to scratch the event from her evening session. She also posted a career-best time in that event.
Macaddino improved on her fifth-fastest time for the team in the 100 fly this season while taking sixth in the A final. Cally Sampson was also an A finalist in the 200 back.
The Boilermakers registered individual season-best times in almost every event in which they competed this weekend.
Purdue student-athletes that did not compete this weekend are slated to represent the program at the Big Ten Championships this week in Bloomington. Action begins Wednesday evening and continues through Saturday.
