WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue junior Micaela Farah was named the Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after a career-best performance at the UCF Challenge. Farah led the Boilermakers' to a sixth-place finish in a stacked field, tying for fifth place individually at seven-under 209.
Farah posted back-to-back scores of three-under 69 in the first two rounds of the tournament and closed things out with a final-round, one-under 71 on Tuesday. The 54-hole total topped her previous best by three strokes and tied the No. 7 score in Purdue history, marking the Boilermakers' second top-10 all-time effort this season.
Through four events this season Farah is tied for the Boilermakers' low stroke average at 72.75 per round and has six scores of par or better on the year. Tuesday's performance was her first top-10 tournament showing of the season (fourth career), and third top-20 effort. She's third on the team with 30 birdies and leads the squad with 149 pars. She's turned in the Boilermakers' top individual score in 7-of-12 rounds in 2018-19, and had the tournament-low score twice.
