• T-Shirt Game Through the Years
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Athletics is asking fans to wear the free T-shirts they will find on their seats at Mackey Arena for Sunday's Big Ten Conference showdown against Michigan State, televised nationally on CBS at 1 p.m. ET. Purdue is giving out almost 15,000 free T-shirts with a gold or black version to be placed on each seat.
The Boilermakers are 13-6 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten, having won four straight games and seven of their last eight contests. Michigan State enters Thursday's contest at Iowa with a 17-2 record and leads the Big Ten with an 8-0 mark. The Spartans are ranked No. 6 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Purdue has won 11 straight home games, dating to last year, and the two squads both own a 59-21 Big Ten record since the start of the 2014-15 season – the best mark in the league.
The annual T-shirt game has received national acclaim from many media outlets as it creates a stunning visual display for a national television audience - showcasing Mackey Arena as the top college basketball venue in America. Sunday's game will be televised nationally by CBS with Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg calling the action. It will be Purdue's first home game on CBS since Jan. 8, 2017, vs. Wisconsin.
The object of the placement of each shirt is to create a drastic visual design around the facility that will be eye-catching during the national broadcast, and to showcase Purdue basketball and Mackey Arena.
Previously, the annual T-shirt game has been held against Ohio State (twice), Wisconsin (twice), Boston College and North Carolina State.
The game is sold out.
