Men's Tennis Season Opener Saturday

The Boilermakers host Toledo at noon Saturday at the Schwartz Tennis Center.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After a successful fall, the Purdue men's tennis team is ready for the first dual of the season. The Boilermakers host Toledo at noon Saturday at the Schwartz Tennis Center. 

Noteworthy From This Fall
Dominik Sochurek won the singles title for Flight E at the Vredevelt Invitational. Sochurek dominated in the Old Gold & Black Classic, winning won both singles and doubles, with partner Franz Luna.

Along with winning doubles, Luna was also a singles champion at the Old Gold & Black Classic.

Makysmilian Raupuk and Stephan Koenigsfest secured the Flight B Doubles title at the Purdue Invitational that hosted over 100 athletes. Raupuk also won two flights at the Old Gold & Black Classic - a flight of singles and doubles, with partner Julian Saborio.

Series History
Purdue is 10-1 all-time against Toledo. The last time the two teams met was Jan.16, 2016, when the Boilermakers shutout the Rockets 7-0. That blanking was the third time the Rockets were held scoreless while playing Purdue.

Boiler Notes
The Boilermakers are 16-2 in season openers in the last decade (including double and triple headers). Purdue has won its first dual match for five straight seasons, propelling the Boilermakers to an 8-2 record in their season openers over the last 10 years.
