DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -
Purdue women's golf sophomore Inez Wanamarta picked up a tournament victory last week, topping the field at the National Women's Golf Association (NWGA) LPGA Hills event at the Hills Course at LPGA International Golf Club. One of six amateurs in the field, Wanamarta used a scorching final round to best her professional competitors and finish as one of five players under par at the 54-hole event.

Wanamarta got off to a slow start, making just one birdie in her first 18 holes and shooting one-over 73, and was slightly better in the second, trading four birdies against three bogeys to finish one-under 71 and sit even par going into the final round.

Her last 18 holes were her best, tying her collegiate-best low score of five-under 67 as she dropped eight birdies on the day. After falling to one over after four holes, she rallied with birdies on No. 6 and No. 9. She made bogey to start the back nine, evening her scorecard, but birdied five of the last eight holes to zip up the scoreboard and pass Jessica Welch for the event title.

Wanamarta missed the bulk of the fall season due to injury, but returns to action with her teammates in February, kicking off the spring at the UCF Challenge.
