9 Defensive Players, Specialists Honored by Big Ten

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue football team boasts one of the most-dynamic offenses in the Big Ten, so it is appropriate that six Boilermakers joined freshman sensation Rondale Moore with all-conference honors Wednesday.

Senior quarterback David Blough and junior tight end Brycen Hopkins both were third-team picks by the media and honorable mention selections by the coaches.

Four other players were honorable mention, as well: senior center Kirk Barron (coaches and media), senior running back D.J. Knox (coaches), junior tackle Matt McCann (coaches and media) and senior wide receiver Isaac Zico (media).

Blough was an honorable mention pick in 2016, as was Barron in 2017.

Also Wednesday, Moore was named the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year, Thompson-Randle El Freshman of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten at wide receiver. He was named first-team return specialist Tuesday.

The Boilermakers rank second in the Big Ten in total offense (459.0 yards per game - just shy of the school-record 462.0 in 1999) and fourth in scoring offense (31.9 - most since 2007).

Purdue completed the regular season with a 6-6 overall record and a 5-3 Big Ten mark, its first winning conference campaign since 2006 and good for a second-place tie in the West Division (with Iowa and Wisconsin). It marks the Boilermakers' highest finish since divisional alignment began in 2013.

The Boilermakers are heading to their second bowl game in as many seasons under head coach Jeff Brohm and will learn their destination and opponent Sunday.
