WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A special Friday matinee triple dual featuring Tennessee and Wisconsin marks the final time the Purdue swimming & diving teams will compete collectively until January.

Action begins Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center. Admission is free and a webcast of the meet will be available via the subscription service BTN Plus on BTN2Go.

Only selected Boilermakers will compete for the Big Ten team at next weekend's inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge, an all-star meet being held at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center. The following week the Purdue men, women and divers are all traveling to different fall invitationals. That means after Friday's matinee, the Boilermakers' next full co-ed meet will not be until Jan. 11 at Michigan State.

The traditional 16-event dual meet format will be utilized for the triple dual. Many of the swimming events will feature two heats per gender. Lane assignments were selected via a blind draw Tuesday.
• Purdue: Lanes 2 and 5
• Tennessee: Lanes 4 and 7
• Wisconsin: Lanes 3 and 6
• Lanes 1 and 8: Non-scoring exhibitioned swimmers

BTN Plus monthly subscriptions start at $9.95. BTN Plus webcasts are available for free for viewers connected to the internet network of any Big Ten University. Day 1 events on Nov. 10 at next weekend's ACC/Big Ten Challenge will also be available via BTN Plus.

Purdue has not hosted a triple dual in the fall since the women and all divers competed against Notre Dame and Ohio State on Halloween 2015.

DOUBLE DeCOURSEY
• Tennessee's roster is headlined by Zionsville, Indiana, native and 11-time All-American Kyle DeCoursey, the brother of Purdue's Gretta DeCoursey. They are the eldest children (of six) of Matt and Ginger DeCoursey. Ginger swam for the Boilermakers in the early 1990s. All four of Kyle and Gretta's grandparents are Purdue alumni, headlined by grandfather George Faerber, who played basketball for the Boilermakers and later was an assistant coach from 1972 to 1979.
• As a freshman last season, Gretta DeCoursey swam the anchor leg on Purdue's 200 freestyle relay at the Big Ten Championships. A month later she was part of the Boilermakers' 800 free relay at the NCAA Championships. It was the team's first NCAAs-qualifying relay since 2015. Her 200 split at NCAAs of 1:45.77 was second on the team behind only senior All-American Kaersten Meitz.
• Kyle DeCoursey has been a big part of Tennessee's relay success at NCAAs the last three seasons. He's also won individual medals in the 50 and 100 free at the SEC Championships.

Trent Pellini eclipsed a pair of #Purdue freshman records & was a finalist at both Big Tens & USA Swimming Nationals. Not bad for his first year as a #Boilermakers, but he says it's just a step in the process. #BoilerUp pic.twitter.com/HpQmoxcNs5

QUOTING THE COACHES
Dan Ross: "The next two weeks we're doing stuff we've never done before. Since 1977, we've never had a Friday afternoon [dual] meet. And then the ACC/Big Ten Challenge next week has never been done before either. Getting our guys out of class, trying to be ready to swim fast and dive at 1:30 is going to be a challenge for us. But it's going to be fun. We're appreciative of Tennessee making the trip up and we'll do a return next year. And with the new coach at Wisconsin we were really happy to get them back on the schedule."
John Klinge: "[Kyle and Gretta's mom] Ginger and I overlapped, and knew each other really well when we both swam here. It's been really fun to have Gretta as part of our team. She had a terrific season where she improved drastically over the course of the year as a freshman. At NCAAs, she went 1:45 on our 800 free relay. We're expecting great things from her over the next few years. She's really developing well and working hard."

BOILERMAKERS AMONG THE TOP 10 IN THE BIG TEN
• After two weekends of competition, nine Boilermakers are ranked among the top 10 in the conference in at least one individual event (data compiled by CollegeSwimming.com). Joe Young (3rd in 100 back, 5th in 100 fly) and Joe Cifelli (4th on 1-meter, 10th on 3-meter) are each top 10 in a pair of events. Young should have an opportunity to race two of the top backstrokes in the league Friday. Wisconsin's Matt Novinski (100) and Cameron Tysoe (200) are both ranked second in the Big Ten in the backstroke early this year.
Nick McDowell (4th in 500 free) and Jinq En Phee (4th in 100 breast) join Cifelli and Young among the top five in the Big Ten in an event. Jackie Smailis (7th in 200 back), Taite Kitchel (7th in 200 fly), Cady Farlow (9th in 200 breast), Danielle Auckley (10th in 50 free) and Brandon Loschiavo (10th on 1-meter) round out the group of nine in the top 10.
• Tennessee and Wisconsin both feature the fastest women in their respective conferences in a pair of events this season. Tennessee's Meghan Small (100 back) and Erika Brown (100 fly) are tops in the SEC. Wisconsin's Beata Nelson (100 and 200 back) and Megan Doty (200 fly) have been the fastest in the Big Ten so far.
