WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team continued playing in Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday for the second day of the Florida Gulf Coast Collegiate Open. The Boilermakers played the University of Central Florida and the University of Southern Florida.
Starting the day in singles play, Siliva Ambrosio defeated Sara Culbertson 7-5, 6-2.
Seira Shimizu defeated Valentina Martin 3-6, 6-4, 6-ret.
Ena Babic defeated Patricia Villar 6-4, 6-1.
Amina Mukhametshina defeated Ariana Chan 6-0, 6-4.
Alex Sabe defeated Alexandria Mjos 6-3, 6-2.
Caitlin Calkins lost to Selin Yaylali 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles, the Boilermakers swept 3-0 with Ambrosio and Mukhametshina defeating Culbertson and Martin 7-5.
Babic and Shimizu played Villar and Chan, winning 7-6.
Calkins and Sabe defeated Mjos and Yaylali 6-1.
Purdue is back in action Sunday at Bonita Bay Club, playing Princeton at 9 a.m.
