URBANA, Ill. - The Purdue women's cross country team is slated to compete in the Illini Open on Friday at 5 p.m. ET. The meet will take place at the UI Arboretum, where admission is free to the public.
The Boilermakers are set to face Bradley, Butler, Eastern Illinois, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Indiana State, Iowa, Loyola Chicago and Marquette in the 5k race.
The women's cross country team enters the weekend ranked No. 9 in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Coaches' Rankings and are coming off a 22nd-place finish at Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wisconsin, where Jenna Halderman paced the team with a 21:29.9 6k time. At the race, the Purdue women faced 11 of the nation's top-15 teams and placed four among the top 148 runners.
