WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team finished Day 3 at the ITA Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee. Athell Bennet and Mateo Julio came out strong, propelling themselves into the semifinals.
In singles play, Bennett defeated Pavel Motl of MTSU 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Tomorrow in the semifinals he will play Sergi Fontcuberta of ETSU.
Julio defeated Hendrik Inno of Belmont 7-6(6), 6-3. Tomorrow, Julio will play Antonio Cembellin of Indiana University.
Julian Saborio played Kevin Huempfner of University of Kentucky, losing 6-2, 6-2.
Franz Luna lost to Kermin Hyatt of UTC 6-3, 6-3.
Maksymilian Rapuk lost to Max Rauch of Middle Tennessee State University 6-0, 1-6, 14-12.
In doubles play, Saborio and Bennett fell to Fabian Penzkofer and Kevin Huempfner of University of Kentucky, 8-6.
