WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - For Purdue women's tennis, the second day of the ITA Regional Championship in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is in the books as the third day begins Saturday morning. The Boilermakers played two rounds of singles Friday along with one round of doubles.
In the morning, Alex Sabe played Emma Miceli of the University of Cincinnati, winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Sabe in the second round, fell to Lidia Burrows of Middle Tennessee State University 6-2, 6-4.
Seira Shimizu played against the University of Memphis's Aleksandra Topalvic, winning 6-2, 7-5. She lost to Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga of Eastern Tennessee State University 2-6, 7-6(7), 7-5.
Ena Babic fell to Constanza Magazzini of Middle Tennessee State University 6-3, 6-4.
Zala Dovnik fell to Amanda Meyer of Vanderbilt, 6-1, 6-1.
In consolation singles, Caitlin Calkins defeated Drew Hawkins of Belmont University 7-6(3), 6-2. Calkins will play Marta Peris Herrero of Middle Tennessee State University.
Babic and Mukhametshina fell to Christina Rosca and Summer Dovark from Vanderbilt 8-1.
In consolation doubles, Calkins and Shimizu defeated Emily Struble and Melati Devi of Miami.
