WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee, for the ITA Regional Championship. The tournament will play through to Monday.
First up for the Boilermakers was Amina Mukhametshina. She defeated Xavier's Sophia Ableson 2-6, 7-6(4), 7-5.
Zala Dovnik also won her match against Hannah Davies of the University of Memphis 7-5, 6-2. She will play tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Amanda Meyer of Vanderbilt.
Caitlin Calkins lost to Xavier's Hunter Roper 7-6(1), 6-3.
Dovnik and Sabe defeated Anna Letto and Hunter Roper of Xavier 8-4. In their second match the two lost to University of Tennessee's Ariadna Riley and Kaitlin Staines 8-2.
Babic and Mukhametshina had a bye first round, but later played Ana Tkachenko and Diana Tkachenko, winning 8-3. The duo will play tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. against Rosca and Dovark from Vanderbilt.
Alex Sabe had a bye and will play Emma Miceli of the University of Cincinnati tomorrow.
Ena Babic had a bye and will be playing Constanza Magazzini of Middle Tennessee State University tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
Seira Shimizu also had a bye today and will play tomorrow at 9 a.m. against the University of Memphis's Aleksandra Topalvic
