WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's soccer standout Hannah Mussallem earned recognition as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following Purdue's 1-0 double-overtime shutout against Indiana.
Mussallem saw action for the entire 105 minutes of play against IU. The captain was the only upper-classman to start the game and proved to be a steady, impenetrable force for the Boilermakers. Mussallem helped hand the first shutout of the season and a below-average shot total to a team that was after averaging 2.36 goals and 15.6 shots per game.
Additionally, the defender recorded four shots in the match, including one on goal. Mussallem was stellar in the rivalry game, making stops and preventing plays from forming for the Hoosier offense.
Mussallem's honor marks the second Big Ten weekly award for the Boilermakers. Marisa Bova earned Freshman of the Week on Sept. 11.

62' | SO CLOSE! Captain Hannah Mussallem takes a shot from the center of the 18-yard line, but it goes high. Great opportunity for the Boilermakers as she was unmarked. #BoilerUp | 0-0
