WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue's Caitlin Calkins and Alex Sabe won on home turf today on the first day of the Purdue Invitational at Schwartz Tennis Center.
Calkins scored a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Northern Illinois' Jovana Peric. Sabe rallied to drop Luisa Pelayo of Wright State 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Purdue's Ena Babic and Amina Mukhamestshina added two wins in doubles.
In singles, Babic fell to Western Kentucky's Laura Bernados 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Zala Dovnik lost to Ball State's Victoria Sec 6-3, 6-1.
The Boilermakers are back on the court for the next round of singles Saturday at 11 a.m.
