WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's golf team faces its stiffest challenge of the season this weekend at the Olympia Fields Country Club / Fighting Illini Invitational.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs Friday through Sunday at one of America's top golf courses, hosting several of America's best collegiate programs.
Purdue will bring Timmy Hildebrand, Jarle Volden, Cole Bradley, Joe Weiler and THOMAS LEWIS / ANDREW FARRAYE to the 7,353-yard, par-70 layout.
The field features three of nation's top-four ranked teams, as well as 10 of the nation's top 25. Only Purdue (RV), South Carolina (RV), Indiana and Air Force will be unranked teams in the field.

Olympia Fields is one of America's top courses, playing host to several high-profile events. The club hosted the 2015 U.S. Amateur in addition to two U.S. Opens (most recently 2003), two PGA Championships, five Western Opens, a U.S. Senior Open and the 2017 women's PGA Championship. FIGHTING ILLINI INVITATIONAL HISTORY
This will mark Purdue's second appearance in the OFCC / Fighting Illini Invitational under Rob Bradley, last appearing in the fall of 2016. The Boilermakers placed T-8th out of 15 teams after sitting in fourth after the opening 18 holes and 11th after 36 holes. Purdue recorded a 34-over par 874 (291-298-285), led by current assistant coach Austin Eoff, who finished 12th at 3-over par 213 (74-71-68). Fernando Barco and Brian Carlson placed tied for 22nd. Timmy Hildebrand was T-54th (227) while Jarle Volden was T-72nd (236).

- Timmy Hildebrand, Senior: Finished T-11th at the season-opening Gopher Invitational after leading after the opening round, shooting a 54-hole total of 1-over par 214 (68-70… leads team with seven career top-10 and 11 top-20 finishes, as well as 31 rounds of even-par or better … qualified for his second straight U.S. Amateur in August … his career average of 73.60 is ninth best in school history.
- Jarle Volden, Senior: Missed last weekend's Gopher Invitational after finishing T-46th in the World Amateur Team Championships in Ireland … finished with six rounds in the 60s last year, good for sixth on the Purdue single-season list … posted a 71.95 stroke average during last year's spring season, almost four shots better than his fall average … won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in record-breaking fashion last April, posting a tournament-record 204 (70-68-66).
- Cole Bradley, Sophomore: Bradley finished T-44th at the Gopher Invitational with an 8-over par 221 (71-79-71) … played solid all weekend outside of a pair of par-5s in the second round … had a strong summer, winning the Indiana Amateur Championship and placing 11th at the Indiana Open … his stroke average a year ago was the seventh-best average by a freshman in school history … two of his three rounds at the Gopher Invitational were even par, marking his ninth and 10th career rounds of even par or better.
- Joe Weiler, Sophomore: Posted the second-best finish on the team at the season-opening Gopher Invitational (72-76-72=220; T-38th) … weiler appeared in nine events last year, averaging 74.58 strokes per round, good for 11th on the all-time Purdue freshman list … posted eight rounds of even-par or better while recording four top-35 finishes … led the team at the prestigious Tavistock Invitational a year ago with a 31st-place showing … also finished 38th, one of five Boilermakers in the top 40, at the elite Puerto Rico Classic.
- Thomas Lewis, Junior: Finished T-49th at the Gopher Invitational (71-76-75=222) … was on the counting team in all three rounds … posted his fourth round of even-par or better (in 32 career rounds) in the first round. … finished T-8th at the Crooked Stick Invitational last year (Even; 69-74-73=216) … was 19th at the Boilermaker Invitational as a freshman and competed in the NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in 2017.
