Postgame Notes - Eastern Michigan 20, Purdue 19

OFFENSE

OFFENSE
David Blough made his first start at quarterback since injuring his ankle in Purdue's 2017 matchup with Illinois (Nov. 4). Blough completed six of 10 pass attempts for 48 yards before being replaced by Elijah Sindelar in a pre-planned second-quarter substitution.

Sindelar connected on all five of his pass attempts for 70 yards, ending with a 7-yard touchdown on a shovel pass to Markell Jones, on his first drive.

Purdue's 341 rushing yards was its highest total since rushing for 349 against Illinois last season. The Boilermakers had 11 rushes of 10 yards or more, including five or 20 or more yards.

Jones' 32-yard rush in the first quarter moved him past Leroy Keyes into the top 10 in Purdue career rushing. Jones finished the game with 12 rushes for 109 yards, giving him 2,193 for his career.

Running back D.J. Knox rushed for a career-high 152 yards on 21 attempts. Knox matched his career-long rush of 45 yards, which he set last week against Northwestern.

It was Purdue's first game with a 100-yard rushing duo since Brandon Jones (131) and Joey Harris (102) accomplished the feat on Nov. 23, 2002, vs. Indiana.

Freshman wide receiver Rondale Moore rushed for 56 yards on his first touch on the ball Saturday. Moore has recorded seven plays from scrimmage of 10 yards or more in his two collegiate games.

DEFENSE
The Boilermakers held the Eagles to 69 rushing yards, their lowest rushing total since being held to 13 yards rushing vs. Kentucky on Sept. 30, 2017.

Linebacker Cornel Jones set career highs with nine tackles (a game-high), five solo tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.

After not recording a sack in the opener against Northwestern, Purdue's defense recorded six team sacks, matching its season high from 2017 (vs. Iowa).

Purdue stopped Eastern Michigan on nine of its 12 third down attempts.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Spencer Evans missed his first field goal for 40 yards or less as a Boilermaker. Evans connected on field goals from 29 yards and 34 before kicking wide right on a 38-yard attempt.
