Trio Garners B1G Preseason Honors

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue junior Micaela Farah and freshmen Danielle du Toit and RuQian Guan were named to the 2018-19 Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Watch List on Tuesday in advance of the pending fall season. Farah was named to the watch list for the second straight season, while Purdue head coach Devon Brouse expects an immediate splash from his pair of rookies.

Purdue junior Micaela Farah and freshmen Danielle du Toit and RuQian Guan were named to the 2018-19 Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Watch List on Tuesday in advance of the pending fall season. Farah was named to the watch list for the second straight season, while Purdue head coach Devon Brouse expects an immediate splash from his pair of rookies.
 
Farah is coming off a solid sophomore campaign, where she earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors and followed up with international wins at the Amateur International Tournament of the Serrezuela Country Club near Bogotá, Colombia and the 88th Brazilian Amateur Championship in Rio de Janeiro.
 
du Toit comes to Purdue from Pretoria, South Africa and has several impressive amateur performances on her resume. She reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 South African Women's Amateur Match Play Championship and won the WGSA 72-Hole Individual Championship. The Boilermaker rookie also captured medalist honors at the  2018 Western Province Women's Amateur Championship.
 
Guan hails from Guangzhou, Guangdong, China and has a variety of outstanding accomplishments in tow as well. She is a four-time China Amateur Golf Futures Tour champion, three-time China Amateur Golf Tour champion and recently placed ninth at the 2018 China Amateur Championship. The 2016 First Team Rolex Junior All-American won four straight AJGA events in 2016, taking the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Sugarloaf, the FORE Performance Junior Championship, the AJGA Junior at Cattail Creek and the AJGA Philadelphia Junior in succession. She also made the cut at the 2016 Buick Championship, playing as an amateur on the Ladies European Tour.
 
The Boilermakers open their fall schedule Oct. 1, heading to the Chicagoland area for the 2018 Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Illinois.
